      Designed for anyone involved in the care and support of people who use opioids, this one-day event will provide the opportunity to learn about and discuss topics related to opioid use practices, policies, treatments and harm reduction.

      Key note speaker

      Mae Kitt, keynote speaker at the 2024 OUPC conferenceMae Katt is a Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner from Temagami First Nation and lives in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She has an Honours Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Education (Curriculum Specialty) and Honorary Doctor of Laws from Trent University.  She coordinates a Mobile Treatment Team that serves remote and rural First Nations to provide opiate-agonist treatment with buprenorphine/naloxone and injectable buprenorphine. Mae also provides primary health care and mental health care to students in an urban based Indigenous high school for over 20 years.
        

      How is the day structured

      The CAMH Opioid Dependence Treatment Certificate Program
      The Opioid Dependence Treatment Certificate Program has been developed to prepare physicians, pharmacists, nurses and counsellors and other practitioners to provide a comprehensive range of services for people who access services for opioid use. 

      Participants who are not pursuing the certificate have the option of taking elective courses independently.

      Core Course (required): Opioid Use Disorder Treatment (OUDT) Course (20 credit/hours)

      Virtual Reality (VR) Opioid Overdose Response Training
      This free course teaches participants how to effectively administer naloxone, a life-saving treatment that temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose, in a clinical and community setting.
